Poem As Yet Untitled
This is an, for now, unnamed poem. I decided to post it first because it represents and expresses the desires of a person living in a disabled body:
I want to roam and wander, far and wide,
To run fast, and jump into the sky.
I want to reach out for what I need,
For what I desire.
I want to touch all there is to feel,
To feel all there is to touch.
I want to feel the rain drops fall on my face,
To smell the earth after the rain.
I want to hear all the sounds of this beautiful world,
To see all there is,
All there was,
All that has yet to be.
I want to dance and crow,
To stomp on the ground beneath my feet.
I want to drive far and fast,
To make turns that let me feel the speed within.
I want to feel the sand between my toes,
The wind in my hair,
To feel life deep down in my bones.
I want to be loved,
To know that I am loved,
To feel that I am loved.
I want to to be consumed and taken,
Over and over.
I want to devour all I can of this world,
To be devoured by my loves.
I want to fly,
Out of this mortal body, wracked with pain,
And explode with passion,
And love,
And life.
